Unbalanced Economy

Over the Irish Sea Paddy Healy’s Blog sets out to detail some “facts” about the recession. Unfortunately Paddy begings by defending the public sector claiming it is not bloated. Now we cannot speak for Ireland but their economy is similar enough to ours and other European nations in having used the expansion of the public sector to mask the job losses and pressure on the indistrial economy caused by increased automation, globalization and crazy economic policies such as The Minimum Wage and the increase in University places.
Unfortunately the introduction of a minimum wage has always had the effect of increasing deficits and reducing jobs. Go back to the Speenhamland System used in England in the early 19th century which had a disastrous effect on the economy, the result was the same then as now…
